Let's Ride
We at ABSAROKA MOUNTAIN LODGE invite you to join us on a ride that will be a feast for your eyes as well as your stomach. We offer breakfast, lunch and dinner campfire cookout horseback rides. Our trails on the Northfork of the Shoshone National Forest offer a variety of beautiful terrain, including river crossings, wooded forests, and breathtaking high mountain views. Our group sizes are small, our horses are gentle, and our experienced wranglers are always there to give you a helping hand. (P. S. They’re pretty good cooks, too!
Note: You don’t have to be staying with us to participate in any of our horseback rides or other activities.
BREAKFAST RIDE- 8am-10:30am daily. This is our most popular ride! Scrambled eggs w/cheese, bacon, fried potatoes and biscuits, all cooked over an open campfire. Cowboy coffee and orange juice to wash it all down. What better way to start your day? $60/person
LUNCH RIDE- 9am-2pm daily. This ride is great for people who want to ride in the backcountry. The lunch consists of burgers or hotdogs, snack crackers, apples and cookies. We have several different trails to choose from. $90/person. (Maximum rider weight for this trip is $250 lbs.)
STEAK DINNER RIDE- 4pm-7pm daily. Another favorite of our guests, this ride is a perfect way to end the day. The menu for this ride is steak (of course,) fried potatoes w/onions, baked beans and garlic bread. Once again, all cooked over and open campfire. Can’t you just smell it now? We also have strawberry shortcake for dessert. Good stuff. $75/person
2 HOUR RIDE ONLY-Varying times daily. Works well for those who don’t want a meal but still want to experience the beauty from atop a horse. Our trail up gorgeous Gunbarrel Creek offers an amazing variety of scenery for a shorter ride. Perfect for younger kids and first-timers. $55/person
All children must be at least 6 years old to ride.
*Please note that all ride times are approximate and that because of the mountainous terrain, all of our trail rides are walking only; for safety reasons no running of horses is permitted.
Weight limits apply and are subject to suitable horse availability. Call for details.
All paperwork must be turned in and all rides paid for prior to departure. Because there is much labor and preparation involved, any cancellations made by the rider (not due to inclement weather,) will result in a 50% cancellation fee. No shows will be charged the full rate.
Certain horseback rides may not be available in August and September.
